6.1 MODULE 6 OVERVIEW

This module provides basic information about navigating committee and service work at CSUN.

Generally, such work is not a requirement for lecturers. However, many departments welcome lecturer involvement on a volunteer basis. Be sure to ask your department chair about these opportunities if you’re interested!

It is common to focus on teaching during your first few months at CSUN, and each department will have its own expectations and requirements regarding service and committee work. This module is not intended to be comprehensive or discipline specific. We intend for this general overview to help orient you when you are first getting started. Always speak with your department chair for more specific information.

By the end of this module, you will be able to:

List examples of department, college, university, community, and California or System-Level service

Special Tip

Lecturers, modules 5 and 6 are more applicable for tenure-track faculty, although you are welcome to peruse them if you wish! Feel welcome to skip to Module 7.
